At Sapphire, we believe in giving back.
We use our resources and profits to give back to society. We believe that running our business comes with social responsibility to give back to those around us. This is a core part of our company and simply how we do business.
At the start of this year, we made the decision to partner with a charity who are known to do good work, that we believe in and that has proven results. We have chosen to partner with the NCBI, and to do something for the blind and to donate where we could help save peoples sight.
Who would have envisaged the year would have gone as it has, Covid 19, national lockdown, the decimation of the hospitality sector and still we live and work in uncertain times?
I came across an article entitled “The Logic of Charity: Great Expectations in Hard Times” during lockdown and it spurred me on to complete what we had started at the beginning of the year. Peoples expectations were not to be dashed. Times may be hard but there’s always a way. So… We donated to the National Council for the Blind Ireland and to date we have also funded 30 cataract operations in Sri Lanka.
Who are the National Council for the Blind?
The NCBI is a not-for-profit charity which offers support and services to people of all ages who are experiencing difficulties with their eyesight. They provide services to over 8,000 people each year. Read more about their work here.
This has been in large part made possible by YOU, our clients, and we want to THANK YOU and are sharing the photos that have been sent to us by the hospital. We want you to share the joy of giving and see the results. All 30 operations to date have been successful.
